Airfix Unveils Upcoming New Tool F6F

They make good use of color to highlight the specific part or parts being assembled. I'm keeping in touch with this forum to help keep me sane! Things are progressing slowly, no paint yet, but soon! Lots of tape, but generally fits really well. If you don't try then you will never learn : In hindsight, maybe I should have tried this on a cheap model first instead of ths one which ran at about £130 more like £150 with paint! The F6F-5 differed little from the F6F-3 though the side windows aft of the cockpit were deleted while receiving a two-stage supercharger for improved performance. Airfix didn't think that this option s would be needed. So, I finally took the plunge with this model and have tried pre-shading. Next, check that part E39 doesn't bow when you fit the 2 fuselage halves together. I'm mostly interested to see what markings might become available.

If that's the case with your pics Iwould think the underside is a tad on the light side. Bit of overspray in the cockpit where I got carried away with the rattle can : Have now just finished up the engine, added the extra detail with 0. When I opened the box, it was clear that none of the space inside was wasted. Personally, I think this is a fantastic offering and you simply have to look at the level of finesse, options and detail to see just how comprehensive and quality this package is. Either widen the slot in each fuselage half, or narrow the locating tab. My Hellcat arrived yesterday and as expected, the box is huge 26. Each of the huge parts trees was individually bagged.

Thanks Lawdog, high praise coming from you, I have been mightily impressed by your work. Starting with the cockpit , i am using the airscale set. Apparently, most parts need cleaning up from things like ejector pin marks and mold-half marks. The plan is to have all the panels open like my bubble top typhoon. Watch the fit of the internal bulkheads. Anyways, here's how she looks just now. How I fitted the Airscale Instrument upgrade set.

The kit has plastic moulded harnesses which are ok-ish but not for me. The Typhoon was like that too, but I had a blast building that kit. Sometimes people don't like the look but the modeler did a stellar job of simulating a real plane or ship or car. So, she is finally wearing her colors. This is an impressive kit and so far, the dry-fitting of parts is equally impressive. Looking at photos just reminded me that there is a little more white paintwork to be done on the front cowling. Thinking I might leave it copper colour to give a bit of 'character'.

No doubt an oversight on my part, but nothing some sanding couldn't fix. Lots of detail so far , more later. This was going to be a huge model! The centre console is the airscale replacement. Appreciate any final comments before I seal this up completely. I think it looks ok but the wife thinks it doesn't. Another clear coat after decals then a little more weathering and then gonna try my first ever car!.

I was quite happy having the damaged one , they can then sell the good ones. Lastly, check the fuselage fit with each frame individually. Easy to install and work with so far. I seem to remember it leaving a residue and being difficult to remove if you didn't want to use it anymore. So far the kit is a pleasure to build. I greatly admire people who use many references to produce 'authentic' models.

It works ok if you aren't turning the model upside down. On the bright side, the port wing fits fairly well. It's been a long time since I used it though and I may not have used it correctly. If it does, the cause is the locating tab on the top. I also like the Fleet Air Arm options. As mentioned before, the plastic is fairly soft, the cockpit floor seems a teeny bit warped - but should squeeze into shape ok.
